Doesn't this show what a bag of washing Birmingham residents are, media would have you believe oh yes Brummies accept everyone into the community , like hell. If it had been a parade of 4x4 I'm sure they wouldn't have thrown that stuff . These people moaning about not being able to get out , I bet they were only going to the shop . Sad Sad people

Hard to have any sympathy for people when they had 3 months notice to plan things. As if they couldn't deal with the road being closed for a single day of the year.

But most people were really nice, standing out waving, clapping, giving us sweets, drinks etc.

Exactly, 50 miles might be a major inconvenience but that woman made it sound like a journey to the end of the earth. Always thought of it as such an insular place, England's 2nd biggest city that no one ever wants to visit.
