That jockey wheel is just comical. Almost looks as big as the biggest sprocket on the cassette.

Don't know what that is about. From here, they all have them https://theservicecoursegirona.com/bike-rental-2

Ceramic speed, supposed to be more efficient, save you power etc. Looks shit though

Bollocks to that. I've installed a few so far, mostly on electronic shifting bikes, and they've all eventually come off by request of those who asked for them to begin with. As far as I see it, if it were true, Shimano et al would have implemented them.

A friend of mine also made an interesting observation. Ceramic bearings mainly have an effect during high rpms, right? Yet the higher tooth count make them spin fewer rpm than regular jockey wheels.

So being ceramic doesn't have much effect but the main point is the oversize wheels, which as you say, spin slower and therefore have less friction. Normal bearings or not, they are more efficient. But its just minimal and HTFU has the same effect.

Enough to quantify the price vs power saving?

Marginal gains in wattage, vast gains in slavery.

That is cheeky, but it must be a swine to keep those holes clean, drive side especially.
-
• #596
well if it's used on the track, like it's supposed to.. that really isn't a thing.
