  • Don't waste my rum on fruit, heathen.

  • Lord yes. Baking raisins turns them into mush: a nightmarish texture hidden amongst an otherwise tasty baked foodstuff.

  • Near the Owl and Pussycat?

I almost went in to that pub yesterday but we were on the move after watching the Ealing Half.

  • In excessive quantities I would agree, as they go rather watery. In moderation, with liberal quantities of cinnamon, I think they complement baked apples rather well. Depends how much lemon juice is used though, as it helps offset the sweetness of the baked raisins.

Nuts in a strudel are, however, very very wrong. I was so distraught to find nuts in my strudel last week I nearly didn't have a second one.

  • Parker's do good stuff. The Nepalese place a couple of doors down is pretty good too.

  • The high pitch whine of offended jobsworths on bikes are coming out of the woodwork left, right and centre.

Just over a week ago I passed some bloke on gears down Walworth Rd, a few minutes later he decided to catch up with me, looking like he nearly burst a lung in the process, totally red in the face.

As he past me in the undertake he proceeded to pant/whine out out "Where are your brakes!?".

I shoulder checked and replied "Here!" As locked up and came to a complete stop in a flash as he flew past me, clearly shocked, because he rubber necked me for about 20 yards until he also came to a complete stop using the aid of the back right hand corner of a left turning pick up truck.

As I passed him by I asked him "Where are your brakes!?" As he was on the floor trying to unclip.

Mate, just fit brake hoods to all of your drops. I've got a few pairs of Sram Apex carbon brake hoods, locking off the brake lever so it doesn't rattle around.

After that, just carry-on riding a bike without putting yourself into a position where you would crash into anything as per usual.

  • You and I have very differing views on strudel.

But that's cool. We are not competing for the same types of strudel.

  • Out of curiosity, why would you go through the effort of fitting brake levers and not putting a caliper on? Like what do you have against fitting a brake? You don't have to use it, however it isn't a matter of opinion that you can't stop nearly as quick as you can if you have a front brake.

  • Between us, however, we will rule the strudelworld.

But, seriously, you're OK with nuts in strudel? Or is it just the raisins/noraisins thing?

  • Brakes aren't cool.

  • Its literally only people that ride brakeless that think brakeless is cool as far as I can tell.

  • Like people that wear fedoras

  • Fedoras are cool.

  • M' brakes

  • Sorry I should have explained, not drilled for calipers. I'm not an expert in carbon fiber so I'm not going to take a drill to anything any time soon.

And anyway, when I need to stop e.g for reds and whatever else I stop. What I don't do is draft other vehicles or aim for peds or assume anything ahead or behind me has actually seen me and is aware of my presence on the road.

Though I am getting a gravel grinder for winter, discs w/ 1x11, I'm genuinely excited though this is going to be the first time I've owned a bike that can coast since I was about 13 so little nervous.

    Current project thread coming soon.

  • No problem, I'm just curious

  • I like to imagine that offended cycling jobsworths are usually riding Holdsworths. In Isleworth.

  • Seriously though, I'm probably going to switch out the fork. Need to replace like for like, 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 with a 30 deg. rake to not screw up the geo.

  • Its literally only people that ride brakeless that think brakeless is cool as far as I can tell.

I have this problem with the fact that I only shave with straight razors and kamisori.

I thoughts chicks would dig it
it. Turns out that only I dig it, and the occasional man.

  • On the way to Woolworths?

  • Since it shut I think they mainly just ride home and post bollocks on road.cc

  • I was in a Woolworths last week.

  • No one likes strudel. Do you not even listen to Cabin Pressure? You should.

  • Was on way back from ffm's.
Only on lookout for coffee and cakebohydrates.
    I'm essentially pub-blind when cycling.

  • I was hoping they would be a proper oldstyle bakers when I noticed the diagonal door across the corner.

Started with a very good thinnish bread pudding,
(ratio of crust to moistly dense filling is all important), then espied the strudl.
Again a good dense filling, and I don't remember any nuts,
just some unnecessary strands of icing.

Shop assistant even topped up the Americano with a gratis espresso.

    Carbs/10. Will Parker's again.

Never had Nepalese bakery goods. What do you recommend?
