The leisure centre is disappearing. Will be knocked down in the near future.
The stadium development changes everything on that side at that time, and these junctions will change again at that time.
The proposals to close off Wellesley Road have been circulating as resident surveys for around 18 months now. They appear to have a lot of local support, I imagine that happening regardless now.

Which is good, it's always packed with cars, effectively locking in people who live in the area (as there's no space for them to go contraflow)
But cyclists loose the ability to go straight onto Capital Interchange Way or, to put it differently, in the Leisure Centre.
