Yep this. Also, by snitching on you in the way he did he has actually managed to achieve his intended outcome and no actual ill has come of you, i.e. you are now proposing to fit a front brake but you didnt get fined or have your bike confiscated.

In the grand scheme of things, there were 10 other things he could have flagged the police car down for. Cars purposely in the asl for example. Is it all well and good if we all just pick and choose what we persecute others for?
So if I catch that guy running a red light, I'm calling down a SWAT team.
There are more productive ways right?
P.S. Im fitting a front brake (as I have in the past during winter) solely to avoid confrontation. And funnily enough the officer didn't have a problem with me until it was brought to his attention. He didn't tell me to fit a brake.

Yes there probably were but he didn't he chose you because your actions registered on his radar enough to make him take some action, whataboutery regarding other road users doesn't make his actions any less justifiable or yours any more legal.
If you catch a guy jumping a red why not report it to the police, might stop them riding like a douche, peer pressure and loud tutting doesn't seem to have any effect on people who rlj or rode around with no front brakes

Am more impressed that he found a police office.

Poor trolling there

Am more impressed that he found a police office.
Is the correct answer.

i have no interest in 'trolling' you. you've come to this thread with the express purpose of wagging your internet finger in people's faces. it's about as tiresome as it is self-righteous.

Sorry didn't realise I had to agree with everything posted on the forum. Like a lot of cyclists I don't agree with rljing or no front brake fixes, if people are getting called out on it or stopped by the police it's fine with me, likewise if people are going to deabate about it being unjust I'm quite happy to debate back.
Your a tad self righteous too, TBH. -

I’m not here for the debate, I’m here for the fight. Go fuck yourself, you sanctimonious cunt.

You're a tad self righteous too, TBH.

If you fuck off and find better things to do with yourself, this forum will be a much nicer place for the rest of us.

Well thought out answer there. Nice Star Trek badge you've got, is that standard issue for Internet hard men?
-
• #18642
You're not making any friends.
Doesn't mean you can't, but you aren't.
And hey, this is the friendliest forum on the web so you might want to try looking elsewhere.

• #18643
Seriously?
So if a cyclist called out a driver who was using their mobile phone and got punched in the face you'd be fine with that?
-
• #18644
No. I'm not violent. Underuser76560 is rather tedious though.

I've been quite civil in disagreeing with a post, I've stated why I disagree with the poster. I've been reasonably polite throughout, a few people who disagree with me have been vocal, fine with me I'm not going to burst into tears over it. Do I give a shit if a couple of gobshites are not going to be my internet friends course I don't, do I wish them any ill will course not its just a cycling forum. However I can't really see the point of a forum with completely homogenous view points where any debate or contrary position which is reasonable and not gratuitously offensive is shouted down.

No. I do know where you can buy an aerospoke though

Not really in need of more wheels. What about cocktail recipes? I've run out of shaker ideas and I do like to shake ever so much.

Get beer, walk into McDonalds on the way
It has liquid magma in it.
I had a similar incident just after the Alliston case happened; guy said something like “get a front brake or you’ll be going to prison with that other kid” in a tone that sounded more like a threat than a suggestion. Waving a plod down though, bit overkill.
