  • About to press go on some Chinese carbon tubs (38mm) but can't decide whether the small weight penalty is worth the difference going wider. The destination bike is on a diet.

  • If you're riding tubs the only difference, different width rims make is to the aerodynamic profile of the tyre/rim as a whole.

The wider the rim, the wider the tub that matches it.

  • So assuming matching 23c to 23mm rim and 25c to 25mm rim, the aero difference is minor? So the main diff will be lower pressure/handling/rolling resistance as per above?

FYI My reference point is 23mm wide clinchers with 24/26c front and rear and the handling has been good.

EDIT the only benefit is 100g of rotational weight in this instance. However wavering towards wide, will prob go wide. Cheers.
