Not much to say about Sagan is there?
Don't see why Mathews is this week's object of derision - he's an excellent rider on an excellent team and I can't recall him doing anything to deserve the contempt of internet nodders. -

haha tragic

I've stated before I have an irrational dislike of him. It has no justification whatsoever, however I stand by it and will continue to deride him When the opportunity presents itself. Plus he's Australian, so a traditional recipient of 'bants'.

For me it's the 'bling' nickname

We witnessed history today. Not the first time tv did not cover the crucial moment in a World Championship, but the first time anyone won the rainbow jersey three times in a row. Chap-fucking-eau, Peter Sagan!

I think the commentators said that Sagan lost his Slovakian team mates about an hour before finish? That he was alone on the last 60-ish K.
Kristoff had 8 men to help him out and ended up being Sagan's domestique. -

He's Aussie I'm a kiwi this is how life is. Plus he stumbled into the green Jersey and was reminded of that today.

Yus. Last man standing for green this year.
I feel privileged to watch Sagan race, truly one of the most remarkable riders of all time. Winning one World Champs makes you a legend, three in a row? One day races are always a bit of a lottery, winning three in a row on different parcours is something transcendental, an individual shouldn't be that lucky or so good. They said he had three days off the bike too through sickness? I mean he didn't animate the race, no meaningful attacks and so basically wheelsucked and then won the sprint. But with the climbs it was clearly the best thing to do. And he wins this AGAIN without a strong team to support him.
I mean this very deeply: it is a rare privilege to watch him race. He dedicated the win to Scarponi and his wife. He has a great heart too, an unbelievable talent ( not saying he dopes yo) , and we used to mock him for coming second.
Not any more.

Oh Moscon you scamp.

Unfortunately, not until finish, but surely mesmerizing heli shot of the last couple of kms. Action galore

+1 !

Was that EBH storming away at the 1km mark?

Magnus Cort.
Sagan did seem to have his brother till at least 40km to go, and he and Kristoff were both reasonably active in the final 3km covering moves (heli-shots now available). I'm a huge fan of Sagan, but it must've been pretty gut wrenching for Kristoff; so close after being pretty anonymous all season.

Thanks for sharing the link
After a couple of views I'm not sure what was Matthews banging his poor bars for? At the start of the finish sprint he was clearly in front of both Kristoff and Sagan, so poor position and missed their move, plus he very clearly lacked speed to both of them. Should be happy with the bronze?..

It was with about 40 kms to go. Wasn't clear who it was at the time, but they got a long, long tow. Not quite Nibali-esque, but definitely warranted a disqualification.

Moscon is clearly a fucking idiot.
As if the racism and his response afterwards wasn't enough, he's stupid enough to do this in an area where, if it hadn't have been caught on camera, it would still have been witnessed by a lot of other team staff.
Clearly he's all talent and no brain.

He was off the back, chasing on after a mechanical. Incidents like that happen all the time without anyone giving a damn, he was just unlucky to get caught on camera.

Well said, too bad a lot in here can’t just enjoy good racing (and stuff in general) without ruining things by becoming Political Correctness Enforcement Agents™
-
• #14198
Why nobody’s posting Sagan pinching that podium girl’s bum?
-
• #14199
He's now a responsible adult with a wife and baby on the way, so all is forgotten obviously!
-
• #14200
I think a lot of people did at the time.
There's also a whole thread about whether having 'podium girls' should still be a thing in the 21st century.
Probably another example of political correctness gone made, you can't even call them darkies any more, etc.
There is no way I am going to apologise or feel guilty for calling a racist cunt a racist cunt, or for caring about things like that generally. If people being anti-racist is 'ruining things' for you perhaps you should fuck off to the 1970s.
Who was in charge of the TV coverage? Brian Cookson?
