I liked my caadx. It was fairly comfy. Longest I rode it was from. Crystal palace to Canterbury on the pilgrims way. I also used it for some night time road riding, no more than 50km at a time probs, it was fine. I also raced cross on it. It was fine apart from frylands where the mud got it.

Anybody got a discount code for cdon, they're not going to use?

I just bought a new SRAM single speed chain for my fixehbeik.
For some reason it doesn't have a powerlink, or powerlock or whatever fancy chain linking piece.
It just has what looks like a regular face plate from a chain, plus the regular two pronged bit of link.
How the fuck do I connect it? It's just too small to attach.
Also how do I avoid getting an sram chain with a shitty linking piece like this in the future? This wasn't some super cheapo chain either.

Pics of the link?

Put it on the ends of the chain, face plate on the other side, bend chain and plate should pop on with a little pressure. Chain should be loose and not round chainring while doing this.

It is a fancy connector. Instert the bit with the pins attached and offer up the other plate to were it should be.
You will have to bende the chain a bit to get the pins into their holes.
I don't recall if yoy bend inwards or outwards though. -

Bend it so the tips of the pins move together, ie bend it towards you if the pins point towards you.

And next time buy a #tester_approved Wippermann chain

Avoid getting a SRAM chain. Spring clip links are much nicer for all weather fixie bieks, because you can take the chain off for cleaning without having to buy a new master link every time. Snap-on master links like you've got are cheaper, which is why manufacturers use them. Wippermann still do spring clips on 1Z1, 100 and 108, of which the first is the first choice for all weather, but if you're the kind of tart who doesn't like the rather pale colour the others are just the same but with less corrosion resistance. KMC make a spring clip master link for their ordinary ⅛" chain, but you have to buy it separately and they supply snap links as standard. In all probability, the SRAM chain is made by KMC anyway, so there's a good chance that the spring clip made for KMC Z510 etc. will fit the SRAM PC1

It's the least fancy connector there is, short of being told to get your chain tool out and join it the old fashioned way.

Which replacement bottom bracket do I need for a shimano alfine fc-s501 on my pomp? Tried googling the number on it but nothing was turning up
-
• #86318
Possibly any old Hollowtech 2 road BB iirc...
-
• #86319
SM-BBR60, because Ultegra is basically the same price as the SM-BB4600 Tiagra one which is the actual "correct" fitment.

Thanks Howard!

Excuse my ignorance- but will the ultegra one result in the same chain line as the one that is supplied with it?

Could one design a fixed rear wheel with a back-pedal brake?

Just ride with a coaster and don't stop pedalling?
GXP BB in the new frame?
