Think I committed every faux pas buying a second hand car yesterday.

Just found this mess in the well. Strip back and hammerite?

That looks like very light surface rust. Try Metal Ready or similar, or a soft wire brush, then Halfords for one rattle can of zinc primer and one of the right colour for the car.

Hammerite will look bodgy when you come to sell it.

Yeh it wasn't too bad in the end, few rougher patches. Panicked when I turned the spare over, check this out!

Must have been sitting in it for a good while. Still bodged it, this will be going on the scrapheap after me
