I wish I'd known about attenuators back in the days. Our guitarist had a 100w Matamp and he loved the power valve distortion over the preamp valve distortion, so he had it on 7 most of the time, and 10 when he wanted to overload. And Matamps used proper iron so they were an extremely loud 100w.
Now he can't hear anything over about 8khz. Bassist is 100% deaf in one ear. Drummer had to play so loud to keep up that he's supposed to wear hearing aids. Never does tho. I always wore earplugs. I told the other guys to do it as well but I still feel like a lucky jerk whenever I hang out with 'em.
