Bont; if you like the look of them can be moulded to your feet shape at home in an oven.

And I've never thought, damn I wish I got some fizik/sworks/giro/bont/NW/shimano/etc

Also decent insoles make a big difference.

First pair of Northwaves I bought used on eBay, barely used silver road shoes. Then I bought the NW Scorpius 3 strap mtb shoe in a CRC sale. What made NW even better for me, was buying some NOS Spec Body Geometry red insoles at a bike jumble, complete with the shims. Knee ache gone. Then I got the black Scorpius with one ratchet and 2 straps and yellow liner. A year later I almost got the same in yellow with black liner, but they'd sold out by the time I'd decided I really wanted them.
Could really do with something to make the heel cups shallower though, maybe different versions of the BG insole.

Thanks all. Insoles eh. No one's chatting Rapha by the sound of it.

Rapha
They're giro, just cost more
-
• #8934
I think you'll find Giros don't have inspiring messages, pink bits or Rapha logos... so not sure I get your point?
-
• #8935
Pink will clash with purple anyway
-
• #8936
My point is they're literally giro shoes

I know, I was attempting to make joke

The inspiring messages bit made me think so but then doubted myself.
Anyhow, just buy the coolest looking shoes -

The bigger brother of mine. Someone buy it and ride off into the sunset hand in hand with me

Its already overpriced with hipster tax. And the seller knows the concept of depth of field so he/she will milk it.

you know nothing
A few shops still have staff who understand foot shape etc. Also decent insoles make a big difference.
There was a guy at Sigma who was really good helping my wife get shoes that fitted - she can be quite sensitive to poor fitting shoes. Not sure if he is still there.
