  • I got given this Raleigh Activator from work this weekend...

It's in a state, but in this photo its a lot better than when I got it! It was completely covered in bird crap and hasn't moved for the best part of 7+ years

  • I wasn't sure about it at first but they were presented as gifts from Ernesto personally , I have a feeling they were made by another company for Colnago (there's two of them the Pope was given the other one) late 80's early 90's

  • It is I have some closer pics knocking around somewhere.... on another note

  • Don't suppose anyone has a salsa quill knocking around do they?

  • After following this thread for a while I've dived in on a GT Timberline project. Almost solely because the paint is so sweet.

  • Not nearly in the same league as most in this thread, but I love my old Kona Lava Dome beast

  • Hoping to lean on some of your retro mtb identifying skills.

I found this on local Facebook ads. Wondering if there is any way of telling if it is genuine litespeed. Going to go take a look at lunch.

    Cheers

  • I doubt it. :-)

  • Doubt it too, but for £40 probably worth a look. Will take along a magnet.

Anything else I can do to check?

  • Rust on the downtube suggests probably not, but for £40 I wouldn't die wondering.

Edit: Unless Litespeed did a steel frame I'm not aware of.

  • Yeah, probably overly optimistic thinking that that is some kind of reside left from a lock mount or something.

Top of top tube cable routing and mudguard eyelets are also suggesting that it isn't legit...

  • Retro MTB heads: I'm looking to change the fork on my Kona Hahanna for something a bit longer - currently it's a Kona P2 for 26 wheels and canti bosses with about 38cm A-C. I want something more like 45 A-C.

Is this my only guy or are there other options out there? Don't really mind if it's threaded or threadless (though I've got a King nothreadset I wouldn't mind using), cheaper is better

  • Very much Steel. Crap stickers! At least I got out on the bike over my lunch hour.

  • Bummer. Always worth a look, though.

  • PACE RC31

    There are some on ebay.

  • 1991 Alpinestars Cro Mega LX I sold a while ago for too much I suppose.

Still got this one, 1990 Al Mega DX, has to go as well though, just too big for me.

  • Swap the stem for something less 'antler-like' and drop the seat, you'd have a chance, no?
