  • Update time!

Nakagawa track bike. Finally feel comfortable with the fit and have been getting a few nice times as a result.

Gefsco (?) pursuit bike. Got a bit frustrated with the pricing of 'correct' components, so have decided to break a few rules. DA x Ambrosio wheelset, Campagnolo Strada cranks etc..

  • Awesome, stem i.d on the Nakagawa? Salsa?

  • This nakagawa is stunning !

Regarding the panasonic, i wouldn't sell it as rideable since you don't feel 100% confident while riding.
I would repair it and keep it as a ratty beater

  • If i were going to sell it, I'd get a quote on how much a repair would cost and factor that into the asking price. If it makes it not worth selling then I'd just keep it.

All three are awesome! Particularly like the Nakagawa too

  • Just a new tube in 631 is about £90 at Bob Jackson. Trouble is when you factor in paint and shipping it suddenly ends up nearer £300

  • Its actually a Tioga stem. Quite stiff (In comparison to Nitto Pearl) for a quill stem with its 12/13cm. Tange Prestige I believ

  • That is such a shame about the Panasonic. That, and the Nag, are very awesome.

  • I'd be very up for taking the Panasonic and repairing it if we can work something out

  • I aswell would be interested if the pricing was right...

  • I've a feeling op and his bikes are on the other side of the planet, so don't get your hopes up guys!

    Could be wrong tho..

  • The replacement has arrived. Short head tube, short wheel base, aero tubing, a-head.. all point towards a stiffer and hopefully faster frame.

    Anyway, here it is:

An Ocean! From my extensive googling it was made by Vivalo's head builder Kusaka with a Yamaguchi seat tube and Kaisei 8630r down/top tubes. Brand new (albeit a bent track end from shipping) and even came with a new King headset.

  • Weeeew!

  • Wauwie

  • ouf, that's good! Needs sugino chcd...

  • Dangit that's good!

Not sure about the frame pump in the first picture ;)

  • Damn, that looks sweet

  • Does the Panasonic have a 1" or a 1 1/8" steerer?
If it's 1", what's the stem? Looks nice.
Also, is the stem on the Nag ahead or quill?

(Sorry, 20 questions... basically, I'm trying to figure out my options for nice-looking 1" ahead stems...)

The new frame looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it : )

  • No worries, always happy to help.

    • The Nakagawa uses a quill stem. Its a Tioga 140mm.

    • If you're looking for nice cromoly stems, check out what SimWorks has on offer. I'm thinking of picking up their Caroline for the Ocean.

  • Thanks!
1" threadless with a shim looks like a good way of having more options without it always looking a bit shit. Chromoly definitely helps.

  • Bits'n'bobs coming through. Here is one of the more exciting (read: pretentious) pieces:

    Simworks/Nitto Caroline - 120mm

    And a couple of questions:

    • Is a spacer above the stem necessary for shimmed steel steerers? Ignoring future stack changes of course..
    • Silver or black top cap?
  • Turns out I'm not one for constant updates, nor am I a photographer. Regardless, here are two of the builds. Still need slight tweaking and maybe a modern chainring (7710) on the Ocean.

  • Both very very nice. Nakagawa is fixed?

  • Its got a freewheel. Replaced my White Industries with a Halo Clickster. Nice and loud!

  • They look proper.
