She'll be scarred for life - possibly wouldn't be had she received immediate medical attention?
Speaking from a similar but less horrendous experience that kind of injury doesn't hurt for the first forty or so minutes, and you wonder why everyone is looking at you the way they do, but after that you wish they'd just get on with it and knock you out with morphine
