have just bought some shimano mini-vs and they so not sit flush on the surly brake studs or the easton ones on my forks. the slightly stepped part of the stud is what is stopping the movement as far as i can see. it can only be a few mm interference stopping it so should i just take a bit of sandpaper to the hole in the brakes?
That sounds like a terrible idea. A couple of mm will take forever with emery paper (sandpaper will be too soft), the hole will not be round nor parallel.
As far as I'm aware they don't have to sit flush to the backplate. Would have thought they would bind, in that case. Is there any sliding movement on the posts when they're tightened up? Do they rotate freely?
