Thanks for the research but there was more than one team in Europe each season, not just the league winner.

The last two seasons, teams not in Europe won the league, leading to the suggestion that the league cannot be won while playing on Europe or perhaps while doing well in Europe. That does not appear to be the case unless the last two years have seen considerable dévelopement in the competitiveness of the English league.

In brief. Not sure it proves anything.
Clearly more difficult to focus on both at the same time; probably now that the is more competitive tha it was, harder still, but not impossible.
