Yeah I see. I remember reading he just wants stages, and that can be done solo.
Fortuno must be paying him well, as he guarantees them a tour spot now.

Homesick from where? He lives in france.
Think as andy said, he just want's to be his own man. Not the teams man.

I suppose there's a spot open for plucky French hero now Voeckler has retired and Barguil is suited to that role. I'm not sure he needs a lot of team support but we will see, he might flounder.
He's said to be 'homesick' for his region, rather than his country. -

During the Tour there was a lot of discussion about how his form had improved hugely since he'd moved back to Brittany, but I think it had maybe put him at odds with his team a bit.
Fortuneo-Oscaro are based there so he's going to be by far the biggest name in a home-town, home-country team, who can achieve their main objectives of publicity, stage wins and GT invitations.
At Sunweb, he'd be away from home, below a few GT contenders/sprinters in the pecking order, and expected to work for others, which he clearly doesn't enjoy much.

Indeed the Deutschland flag is more of an administrative thing. But still, it's in the picture frame when they ride so I can't celebrate it as a Dutch victory, sadly ;-)
But wow, Oomen, Kelderman and Dumoulin, the three musketeers. All good TT-ers that can climb, I like where this is going.

Like Anquetil, Hinault, a Breton, special kind of Frenchman ;-)

Yeah didn't know this. Not sure how someone can be home sick from Brittany, maybe he likes his friends!
And no, if the Vuelta is anything to go by!

• #13859
Anquetil was from Normandy, not Brittany.

The breton cyclists are a tight little clique, if Twitter is anything to go by. Perrig Quemeneur is always bigging them up.

ah bon, merci

Sky have signed Dylan Van Baarle from Cannondale. A good move for them, but a shame that the temporary loss of a title sponsor for Cannondale means they lose their best young rider.
-

So that wil be Stannard, Van Baarle & G against the Quick-Step boys in spring classics, nice.
-
• #13864
Thomas won't ride them, he's going for the Giro again I believe.

Lost Mullen too. Who has possible potential.

Junior women's TT.
Gutting for viglia. Started first and watched 45 riders fail to beat her time. Only for her teammate to go last. And beat her by 6 seconds. -

This.
Danish rider (#2 at European Champs) got a different bike from another team 15 minutes before start - since her own was judged illegal.

Wonder if Sky were planning to sign Van Baarle before Rowe has his accident.
Will be interesting to see if TGH rides the cobbles next year. He had a podium at junior Paris Roubaix I think.
Is the worlds on the UCI YouTube channel?

and Moscon
If it wrong that the shine of Sunweb winning was taken off by having to watch Matthews celebrate? I don't know why but there is something about him that annoys the piss out of me. And its not just because he is Australian.
Could be the earring.
Could be because he looks like Mason from Home and Away.

To fall off again

Just seen a tweet: The Giro starts with a 10k prologue and then two stages 'suitable for sprinters' before a rest day and the flight from Jerusalem back to Italy.
In other words pretty much the same as this Giro, just in a different place.

I assume Warren's success at the Tour this year had a lot of teams Barguiled.

If ever you come across someone who ridicules the wearing of lycra, show them this picture.

Tom Pidcock wins the junior worlds ITT.
What an amazing talent.
Of course, but to achieve his goals, he needs a team who can support and develop him. Like Sunweb did, and do for others, so well. It's a big risk joining a brand new team who may talk a lot on this, but cannot show a track record of doing it.
