  • And even more so now that it seems Renault are cutting off the Red Bull engine supply in 2019!

  • Sounds like the Red Bull toys-from-pram ejection rate is going to hit new highs.

  • No worries, they've got those TAG Heuer engines...

    ahahahahahhahahahahah

  • I am going to put this out there:

I reckon McLaren have made another monumental cock-up (over Alonso again). they have basically given rbr a factory engine to keep alonso happy and rbr get three years in the baby team for honda to sort it. any bets against us seeing RBR with a stonking Honda engine when the next big formula change comes around?

McLaren to slide further down the pack with a customer Renault engine

  • any bets against us seeing RBR with a stonking Honda engine when the next big formula change comes around?

I'd bet heavily against that. Honda have had over two years of running to improve things, and no longer have to worry about development tokens, but the fact is the engine isn't improving. If anything its reliability is getting worse, and it's still obviously woeful on power. If Honda haven't even started to fix the problem yet, I can't see any particular reason to believe they're going to solve it any time soon.

  • Also, it's not the case that Red Bull have ditched Renault, Renault have ditched Red Bull.

The rules state that if any team has not got an engine parter sorted, the engine supplier supplying the least number of teams has to step up and supply them.

Given that Red Bull don't really have to worry about sponsorship money, they can probably make do with a dud engine for a season or two. At least until Porsche come in and rescue them by turning it into their works team.

  • Seems like just when Honda were showing a bit of promise, they were binned. Well they did take too long. I'm interested to see what happens next.

  • Honda showing promise? How so?

McLaren were expected to run well here (much like other less power-sensitive tracks like Hungary & Monaco where they had good performance).

In the same manner that I doubt Mercedes & Ferrari are suddenly concerned about the power of the Renault engine powering the Red Bull.

  • im not sure they are showing any promise - where did that happen?

  • What are the chances of Red Bull getting Porsche engine for 2019?

  • The engine in the Porsche 919 LMP1 is a 2L V4 Turbo hybrid, not reusable but the tech experience would be useful. Porsche may be too busy working on their formula e entry though.

  • marko will probably sell rbr - he had enough with trying to get a better engine last year, and now he's got to do it all again by mid 18 so they can get the 19 car ready - ferrari , merc and renault wont touch them - would not surprise me if its not a total honda works team and rosso become the b team

  • rosso become the b team

    Super Aguri?

  • :) those were the days!

  • Looking like 2021 will be more likely from the rumours flying around.

  • Also, that was a damn awesome qualifying session. Amazing seeing those guys scrape the wall lap after lap at ten tenths.

  • Carnage at the start

  • Rule 101, don't take the other car out!

  • That was brilliant!

  • Oops...

What are the chances of Hulkenberg just missing out on the record for most races without a podium?

  • Palmer actually finished and finished above 11th...

  • Indeed, managed to score about a twelth of what his teammate has over the last 2 seasons...

  • Guy Martins F1 doc on the pit crew was pretty cool to watch.

  • Boring race in the end.

Will we ever get to see Verstappen drive?
