Interesting book review of Paul Fournel's book on Anquetil, with a cracking story about prize money.

That stomach area looks a bit grim.
My belly doesn't look that healthy but I'd rather that than his void.
And I echo the "y tho".

Despite all that I'm still looking at the hairline.

So only the TT goes there? Too narrow I guess?

I see why steve and alex both declined the offer .

So are they doing this on TT bikes or 46/30 by 11/32 road bikes?.. Shocking

I can understand why you might want to swap bike at the start of the climb....
-
• #13842
That would be quite the challenge for a team time trial, changing 4 or 5 bikes and getting them going again
Birkelundsbakken is not the same climb as (the final bit) in the ITT though:

Hooray for Sunweb - you'll be pleased Peter.

Think each nation has two riders max. Plus I would have expected every rider to want to change.
Not sure I agree with changing but it adds an extra element of intrigue to the race.
Won't be watching the TTT highlights but pleased for Sunweb.

Very much so. The women's team is Dutch - hiep hiep Hoera! The men's team is German though - Gratuliere! Splendid performance by both, unique achievement

Wasn't the German registration more a flag of convenience when they had Alpecin as a sponsor and both Kittel and Degenkolb riding for them? The team was Dutch from its inception and the management remains the same. It wouldn't surprise me if they went back to being registered as a Dutch team now Dumoulin is a world star.
Brilliant ride from them yesterday, especially given the age of the team. All of their riders were born in 1990 or later.

Success breeds success. Subweb are doing something right, incredible year.
I still don't understand Barguil's move to Fortuno, what's up with that?
-
• #13848
Homesickness is a bit part of it, isn't it?
Maybe also who.
-
• #13849
I think Barguil doesn't want to end up riding the Tour as a domestique for Dumoulin. You have to admire his ambition, even if you don't quite understand why moving to a new Pro-Conti French team matches it.

Barguil wants to do his own thing, doesn't he, especially at the Tour? The team is certain to be invited and he is certain to be able to do whatever he wants. He should gets wins, famous/famous in France and rich.
Well he clearly peaked for the Nats
