  • ok ok i'm very late to this party , but.
    my new commute means i can go single up front -
    i run HT2 shimano 5 bolt cranks, and 2 ultegra cranks, normal and compact (currently fitted)- running 9 speed cassette/xtr mech/road shifters.

    so do all i need to do is ditch the front mech - get a 48T correct BCD narrow wide ring and thats it? or do i also need a set of new bolts?

  • Yep single ring chainring bolts you will need. NW ring should be enough to keep your chain in place as long as you're not going off road
