Ah, the Privateer, I had one of those in that colour too, loved it, sold because I needed the cash for something else but always regretted it. I do have a '93 RaceLite that belonged to Keith's first wife though, so I'm not Bonty-less.

Nope - these were just weird bikes. Could be run as XC or AM with a longer rear shock and using the various mounting bits on the mainframe. Steep head angle is so it will work as an XC bike. Slackens a bit as you go through the travel but whether it gets below 70deg I've no idea.
Crazy BB height was something the designers thought was important to a north west coast US designed bike.

Not at all!
That is a piece of absolute MTB history.....without googling, Jeff Apps, I believe?
He was doing his stuff this side of the pond, while the Americans ( joe breeze, and the other blokes name escapes me right now) were doing theirs....the American guy used to phone Jeff up at 3 am to talk something technical, while Jeff would write him a letter!! Brilliantly British eccentricity at its best!
i don't think it would ride like anything else, but would get you to remote places! -

When I saw that Cleland, I thought it was a highpath from Dave Wrath Sharman - I remember reading in 'bicycle action' some guy ride one up & down Snowdon in the mid 80s

That is incredible!
The groupset is amazing.
You'd think if you were going to sell a bike for 1700 you'd splash out on some decent photos. -

Yup, that Paletti is delightful, can't help but wonder how much bikes like that are going for that don't get put on eBay though...
I had one of those in 98, bought from the LBS owner who used it for a couple of years, mine was the stock build with Judy and XT kit though. Great riding bikes.
