Dammit

You would be amazed, or maybe not, at the paucity of books evident in most houses that I have looked at over the past couple of days. 5,000 square feet of house, 15 linear feet of book shelf.

And there's the internet, which works better than books for looking stuff up.

Shelves of books are a vanity now, nothing else.

Hence you can buy them by the metre. They're basically home decoration.
