Has anyone tried using a Carradice Bagman Support with just a dry bag strapped on it? Im wondering if it would be less 'floppy' than a saddle holster

you can get a barley in tate modern for £40 atm

I don't actually like their bags. Not a fan of the retro Aesthetic, I already have excellent dry bags, and the supports are about £25.
I was thinking they'd be a bit more stable than my restrap and I can easily just leave it on the bike all the time.

Don't see why you couldn't. You could easily stitch a few bits of webbing together as a compression harness with folded loops for the quick release bits and a clip to hold it fast to the support too, if you wanted to mimic how the carradice bags attach

I was thinking I could use the loops you get on alpkit dry bags combined with the support and some bolt on saddle bag loops. I don't have any personal experience with the supports though, how sturdy are they?

Very sturdy. Routinely load mine beyond what I'm sure is the recommended dose. They flex a bit, but you don't really notice while riding

No wobble side to side?
-
• #16615
Nope. As long as you you replace the rubbish bolts with meaty ones and threadlock them, anyway

Ummmm very interesting Thanks

Basically the old ones came with grub screws to hold the rack into the block, and they were crap. I think the newer ones have dome head bolts. I replaced mine with cap heads that took a bigger hex key so I could tighten the shit out of them and forget about it

Why not one of these for a drybag?

Does look good but 3 times the price of the bagman support

Have you tried one? Just picked up one of those PDW Bindle doodads while in Canada for almost half the uk price. Pretty stoked to test it out!

Please do report back, I found it on sale so I'd be more tempted to get one at a lower price. Also people say the alpkit tapered bag works well with it.
-

I'll be sure to do that. Yea ive head that too, now they just need to get back in stock ;)

Wildcat do one too, which is probably a bit nicer quality. If I get one I'll use the ortlieb bag as they're super heavy duty, I can see thinner bags wearing through where the rub on the rack.

A few of my latest builds.
Cannondale did it's last run as my touring bike and moved on to full commuter duty.
Got myself a Pelago Stavanger to take over as my main touring bike. I really like the more allround aspect of it compared to the 'Dale, wants and can go pretty much anywhere apart from bikepacking stuff.
And something I threw together just for fun. Should come in handy once things shift over to something more... icy up here in Finland.
