'You should fit a brake but you don't have to use it and it will really help if your luck ever runs out' is sadly a bit of a mouthful
'You should get some brakes' is not very persuasive with my sample of one.
I suppose 'Please fit a brake' might work but it's difficult not to come across as a condescending tit. Least I was riding fixed in civies sans-lid
