  • Not United. And have a good look at seatguru.com to make sure you don't get an seat that looks like it has extra legroom and then find out it's where the babies in cots go. Luckily there was only one baby and they were incredibly well behaved. Also good for making sure there are USB charging sockets, you're not next to the noisy galley kitchen, etc.

Also, don't rule out connecting via Canada, as you then do US immigration there, which may save you an hour or more on US arrival, and thus take similar time overall with probably less stress.

  • I've flown United a few times recently and they've been better than expected if you're on a route with one of the new (or possibly just refurbished) planes. The old planes are still shit though.

Personally if I'm flying economy I don't care that much anymore. Decent headphones, tablet full of stuff to watch, meal before you get on the plane, bottle of rum/whisky from duty free, a few snacks and it doesn't really matter who you fly with.

  • We're going Aer Lingus, via Dublin in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know how that goes, if DVT has not fully claimed me by then.

  • Len is a a bit inconsistent on this it seems

contrary to your contention, the cable pull is most definitely different on 11-speed and 10-speed SRAM road shifters.

  • Lufthansa then Virgin.

concur on forgetting about united completely.

  • It is different though. Its just both 1:1 ratio

  • Yeah, Len made me do it

    Apologies @jon. , @PhilDAS @Hovis and anyone else - I was wrrrrrong

  • I'm flying to Boston in December and several people have suggested flying via Dublin, you can pre-clear US immigration there.

  • That's the draw. It just happened to be cheapest when we were booking.

  • The last few times I've been through US immigration it's been 10 minutes of a job.

  • Yep, went to Hawaii last summer in business from Dublin for less than economy from London. With United, coincidentally.

  • An apology isn't enough. We demand blood sacrifice.

  • Goddammit not again

  • I did it anyway and it seems to work okay. Shifting isn't perfect right at the top of the cassette but I reckon it's rideable.

Another potential solution to my quandry from Mr. Zinn involves filing down the freehub. Will have to check if there is clearance on the hubs.

  • Would it drastically fatigue your rim frequently rebuilding it to different hubs?

  • In isolation, 7800 is fine, but it was a definite step down from 7700. Better than other first gen 10s tho. Bulky brifters.

Success! An hours worth of filing this morning and I have a 11 speed road cassette on a 11 speed mtb hub.

  • What 1 1/8" ahead stems exist that won't look inappropriately bulky on a 1" ahead steerer attached to a steel frame? I've got a 1" - 1 1/8" shim for the steerer and will be using oversize bars. It'll need to be 120mm, ideally black.

Edit: - 7 or - 10deg, possibly preferably the latter.

  • Been too lazy to install alternative browser on iphone6. Will Opera still be a go-to option these days?

What is the best for reducing autoplay/scrolling ads?

  • Should I expect to get more than 1500 miles out of a bb86 press fit bottom bracket before it starts being draggy and clicking? Dry miles only bike.

  • The deda superleggero stem is very slender, I think it has a 36mm stack which is 4 less than most others.

  • I thought Opera had been bought by Chinese
    https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/18/opera-browser-sold-to-a-chinese-consortium-for-600-million/
leading to expectations of malware/usage data being logged on Chinese servers/etc.

  • Looked at my cranks and yeah they square machine part (what would you call it?) is not really square which is sad I really love them.

Another question, my bottom bracket keep loosening and can be pushed side to side but not wiggled. This keeps happening.

Do you think things are just fucked and worn out, everything is old!

How can I save my cranks and idea?

  • Virgin. Never united.
