You'll be happy with your discs once you go down a mountain

For functional, all weather commuting, bouncy bikes I get that discs are useful.
Not a crit racer with 60mm deep wheels and a stem slammed as low as possible.

You should try it, hydraulic braking and electronic shifting is incredible at high speeds. Full force braking with one finger and downshifting with another was a game changer for me.

Plus fancy rims all year round...
