pretty cool to see that crank arm getting used

Training is going ok.

Good on Ben for being original with his profile photo. Also kinda funny, considering how lethargic Koalas are.
I'm guessing you're 2nd place?
-
• #230
Yep. Makes me think I should take it all a bit less seriously.

Still no rear wheel...

Bit risky entering the National already isn't? What are your placings from last season?
-
• #233
3rd, 6th, 8th, 8th including 8th in the same (non-national) event up there last year. You reckon I should email the organiser and tell him I'll have more results on the way?
-
• #234
If you put those in the comments I think you'll be fine. Won't be as oversubscribed as last year and I got in with worse results.

• #235
You scored highly on style points though.

• #236
Might need some styling tips from @umop3pisdn, I've not sorted my look out yet.

Done! (for now)
5.1kg. Ideas on how to lose 100g for no money are welcome. Gonna throw it up a Swains tomorrow and see how it feels.

Total novice at such things, but is there space to trim the bottom of the seat post? Sorry if this has already been done

Strip the paint?

Great execution. Pad holders and butterflies are nice touches.
That front valve suggests to me that you're not using latex tubes. Sort that out. Challenge are lightest.
Taken out the steerer bung bits?
Drill everything.

Dip ends of cable in super glue instead of cable crimps ..
-
• #244
Cut at least a couple inches off the excess RD cable.
-
• #245
Cut the ends off the bullhorns. Drill holes in the saddle. Drill holes in the stem. Cut the brake pads and holders in half. Optional: remove half the bearings from the pedals, remove half the spokes, remove half the teeth on the chainring, drill holes in the cranks.

I've never done a hill climb, but I can only imagine that climbing (out of saddle) with a bar end shifter is pretty annoying. Have you tried a SRAM RTC shifter?

Break in to the specialized store and steal the carbon crank spider
-
• #248
Go to Sri Lanka and weigh the bike there.

• #249
Get some decent wheels.

RTC shifters weigh more, I'll probably only shift once or twice in a race so should be ok, but I'll find out how it feels tomorrow.
End of bull horns allow a pretty low stretched out aero position which will be good for the first stage of Sunday's Reading CC HC. Might chop em off after, but they replicate the underside of normal hoods quite well, which is what I'd normally be grabbing onto.
Seatpost is as short as it can be.
RD could loose some but it's indexed now so it can stay.
Stripping paint is wack and would take hours and hours. It would probably take it under 5kg though.
Steerer actually has a star-nut in it weirdly. Normal though I think. The steerer is carbon with an alu internal wall.
Until I get a puncture I'll stick with the Conti Supersonic tubes. They're 50g and I managed to get them on without popping them.
Carbon spider only saves a few grams. Direct mount carbon chainring on the other hand...
The wheels are very good. They're the lightest possible within my criteria.
Nah, narrow/narrow: think of the 'grams.
