You can buy 11sp cassettes that have been modified to fit 10sp freehubs. There's s chap on the Time Trialling Forum who does it - let me find a link...

Honestly? I saw some unbranded shim compatible stuff on eBay and my big nose started twitching and I thought, wonder if theres stuff like that for sram yet.

Anyone know where I could buy the nuts and bolts needed to use these?
The holes are maybe 3-4mm diameter. -
• #86062
Is he right?
It's 1.85mm to file off, or 0.85mm if your current cassette uses the 1mm spacer as you can just bin that. It's better to take it off the cassette than the freehub if you can, and better still to get Woolie (see above) to do it for you.

Worth taking into local Screwfix and asking? Or pricey option and just use the fixings? https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/cables/jtek-top-tube-clampon-brake-cable-guide-254-mm-pack-of-3/

You local fastener shop, there's nothing special about them

You local fastener shop
He couldn't help - wondered if there was an online place I could order from, but I'll try the hardware shop by work first

Even SRAM have made Shimano compatible shifters, but there's no reason why anybody would waste their time making SRAM compatible DoubleTap levers because the SRAM 10-speed ones are routinely sold for £150 or less a set. There's no margin there for a different Chinaman making knock-offs to get ahead of the Chinaman making the actual SRAM ones, and if he did want to go into the knock-off market he'd be much more sensible to go for the Shimano since there are at least 10 times as many potential customers, and they are less likely to be fussy. SRAM drivers have generally chosen to make the leap, Shimano owners are more likely to have ended up with it because they didn't know any better.

There are plenty, but unless you're stuck out in the middle of nowhere it's not worth paying postage on a few screws and nuts which are likely to be less than 50p in total.

It depends on how scared you are to mess up the freehub body.
I guess you could also, if available and possible, buy a replacement freehub body and put that on. I know you can get them for novatec/ambrosio hubs. Check with Hope. That will get you rid of any wear on the splines and you have a neat opportunity to service the whole thing while taking apart. -

I've got a set of three NOS Shimano ones for a 25.4mm top tube with screws you can have for the cost of postage.

Anyone ever seen an example of a bike with both 700c and 650b brake studs (they'd have to be removable, obviously). Is the 19mm difference enough?
-
• #86073
Something like this:

Is a solution I guess (thinking of 650b on cross-check). Brake studs aren't removable though, so would mean a new set of braze ons I guess -

Is the 19mm difference enough?
Plenty, even with M10 studs. The double mount might have to be made in one piece for ease of assembly. It seem like an odd ambition in 2017, since rim brakes are a niche product for skinny-tyred road bikes these days.

So I've got:
Get double mounts designed made, brazed, re powder-coat, swap fork for straggler fork, enjoy 650bizzle
OR
Sell cross-check, buy straggler, enjoy 650bizzle.I wish sentimentality wasn't a thing
You'll find a few of my recent prototype and short run parts in my various project threads, and I've been using custom made parts on my bikes since before LFGSS existed. IIRC, the first one was a modification of the Profile Aero II which knocked about 100g off the weight. The only non-cycling product which has made it as far as sales in double digits was a sex toy back in the late 90s
