  • This is v intriguing to me.

  • Young family weekday runs are mostly commutes.

Weekend runs are usually either v.early or v.late or events. All solo.

  • Post breakfast and before lunch;
I have a bruised second toe, under the nail.
I can't decide if this was because the nail was too short or too long...decisions decisions.

  • i've got three, i tend to only bunk off childcare nighttime duties if there's a race on which is fairly rare.

I'll try and go out at work if I'm not at a client's office, or more normally once they're in bed, around 7.50 - 8.15ish. that gets to be a bit of a pain when i'm doing a couple of miles warm up and down and a long interval session.

i did used to do a run in the morning really early, but haven't done that for a .

when my twins were younger I'd take them out for 16 miles in their pushchair in all weathers. they'd sleep pretty much the whole time, i'd get my run done, and mumma got a break with our older daughter. win win win! I just about get away with a parkrun with them now before they want to get out and run around

  • Tendonitis above the ankle on the inside leg - anyone had any issues?

I think too many road miles in awful shoes is the cause, so taking a week off (frustrating as it is).
Also, any recommendations for Adidas road running shoes? I only ask as a friend works for them and can get a pretty decent discount.

  • Always try trainers on. I bought some NB Vazees the other week without trying them on properly and they are now consigned to being bright orange ornaments on the shoe pile.

  • I have had this problem (several times in fact) but I planned to go into the Adidas shop to try pairs on and try and use my discount online or see if they can take it in store. I wouldn't do that with independent retailers, but I don't see the issue with Adidas.

    Free returns with Adidas too!

  • What was your time for GNR juanito? My distinct lack of training is severely getting in my head pre weekend now, I've decided to focus on enjoyment and atmosphere vs competition this time round for Copenhagen... purely to avoid too much disappointment ;).

  • Are the Vazees the ones with the twirly knob?

  • No, they have conventional laces.

@farfowl 1:20:46, came 199th. (i've finished in top 60 and around 75 minutes the previous two occasions i have done it).

  • Size on the NB? I feel I need some bright orange shoes in my life.

  • US 10, UK 9.5.
and they're actually zante v3 rather than vazee.

  • 1:20:46

Still fairly rapid! Looks from Strava like you backed off mile 9 onwards, or just legs really struggling? Edit, that'd be the bleak period you mentioned!

I got to about 400m from work when the heavens opened big time. Might aswell have been in the canal for the last stretch.

  • those are the under armour speed tire i posted i think.

  • Got to my halfway point. Pissed down. Then got nearly home after cold drying out. Pissed down.

  • that gets to be a bit of a pain when i'm doing a couple of miles warm up and down and a long interval session.

I'm lucky if I ever get out the door before half nine, your bedtime routine must be far more structured than ours. Why do you say that it's a pain? Do you not like finishing up late? Admittedly on the nights I run, I can't wind down for sleep until around 1am, so I'm usually a bit fucked the next day.

As you can see I'm really selling the night running here...

I don't think I could go much earlier though. The one time that I did, I felt like I was going to puke my dinner up the whole time.

  • it's a pain in that my twins went through a spell of waking up at times from 4.45 am to 5.30.

running until 9pm, coming back, having a bath, then having dinner and fitting in the obligatory 4 cans of beer leads to pretty sub optimal recovery.

i've turned over a new leaf now. herbal tea and bed before 10am. hopefully....today is day two

    late dinners FTW

  • Read recently that Kenyan runners go to bed at 20:00. I'm trying to sleep at 21:30 now.

These are the badboys I was thinking of. Saw some in Sweatshop, would be tempted if they ever went on sale.

  • I read an article this morning on the Dragon's Back Race - 5 days of running through Welsh mountains. Cue reading all the info on the site and thinking 2018 could be far off enough to train...

  • 60 minutes out and back on the beach today, in sun and stiff breeze, barefoot.

    Worth it.

  • you strike me as the Toe-shoes type @tw you need to get on it.

  • Hi all. Does anyone here run with a ruck sack?

I'm looking to replace my 10 year old? camelbak octane.
Looking at the osprey talon 18. Have any of you lot got any suggestions? A rucksack that can take a bladder for runs in the hills and be used as an everyday ruck sack as well.

    Cheers.

  • I like the OMM bags. Adventure 20l worth considering. Cheaper if you shop around.
