I'd go j-bend. Easier to service. Lots of straight pull VS J bend debates on the interwebs
-
• #53
There I was thinking this whole process wouldn't be a headache.
3 pages in and I've only got a frame so far!! -

I don't have a clue what the prices are for those wheels, just noticed they appeared to do them in J Bend and Straight Pull.
Yeh, J bend a bit easier to get spares for (as in, if you're out in the Alps and a spoke snaps for example).

So going for the Hope RS4 straight pull.
Can't decide to get a discounted 6800 Ultegra or wait for the 8020.
Any ideas on price for the full groupset?

I'd say at least 900 with hydro brakes, it's 800 for rim brakes right now.

Right well that's an easier decision!
Due tomorrow;
Ultegra 6800 Hyrdo Disc groupset 52/36- 11/28.
Hope 20five RS4 straight pull wheels, (Ribble had these at too god a price to turn down),
Victoria Corsa G+ gum wall (bit unsure about these)
Look Keo2 Max whiteAll I need now is bar tape, disc rotors and bottle cages

Well a lovely welcome back to bike ownership. Thought I'd just get the tubes and tyres on the wheels.
Much harder than I recall it being! Not sure if it's the wheels or the folded tyres or what but I've pinched one tube and have extremely sore thumbs from just getting the tyre on. Time for a beer -
• #63
That's new tyres for ya. Looking forward to seeing it done
-
• #64
I'd had a crap day and thought this would pick me up but it's given me a bit of a kicking in truth.
Thanks though. -
• #65
Also tubelezz rims can be notoriously hard to get a tyre on. Which is good for tubeless

Some assurance that maybe I'm not totally useless...
Self prescribed therapy was to order the rotors and bottle cages.
Seriously considering taking all the boxes to Cadence and have them build it. Is that totally lame?? -
• #67
Yes that's lame. You can do it!
-
• #68
Ok well I'm going to need a compression tool for the press fit.
What the heck tool do I need to remove the QR caps for the through axels? -
• #69
For not scratching: http://www.parktool.com/product/axle-vise-av-1?category=Hub%20%26%20Axle
If you don't care, use a multigrip and a towel
Once you got one side off, you can use a shitty QR skewer you don't care about, stick it in at an angle, and pop off the other side by banging it on the table/workbench/floor

Hmm so still waiting on Rotors. Other than that I have(I think I have everything).
Can't decide if I should go for a darker winter build over the Corsa gumwslls and white finishing!? -
• #71
Black bikes are boring
-
• #72
It's not a black bike I mean saddle, tyres, tape and only till spring
-
• #73
Gumwalls in the wet go black pretty quickly.
Otherwise it should always have gumwalls -
• #74
Ok noted.
Honestly I have actually ridden a bike before -
• #75
Black saddle&tape. You don't want to risk it with the white pedals you ordered ;-P
Would straight pulled effect the pricing?
