@cycleclinic, maybe we could do a deal. I'm in Holmfirth West Yorkshire though.

I suspect there are arguments for alternating the stresses by lacing the other way too.
No

There are, but they are not arguments anybody has ever won.

My question is whether to use a gummier prep on the non-drive drive side or just go with one type for both.
-
• #6506
Linseed for both :)

Alrighty then, thanks.

Where in the UK has either wheelsmith spoke prep or rock n roll nipple cream in stock?
-
• #6509
@cycleclinic do you have any nipple cream, your website says not. Is there anyone you can suggest?
-

It is on a ship stuck in the port of houston! I have 144 bottles along with 2000 bottles of rock n Roll on that ship.

Good plan. XR300 was suggested because there's a good chance they're the rims used on the factory wheels. If changing to a different rim (and buying new spokes), could be worthwhile considering something wider, like the XC279, XR22T, or XR31T, if either can be found within budget. @cycleclinic could be your man...!

Hey there, looking swap out an old Pacenti SL23 with a Kinlin XC279 as their ERDs seem close enough. @cycleclinic do you know if they're close enough and can you get hold of them?
Cheers in advance for any info.

289mm v 285mm ERD diff = spokes c. 2mm too long
-
• #6515
I can cut them down for you if you decide to reuse
-
• #6516
Thanks guys, for some reason I thought they were closer.
Think I'll stop being a cheapskate and get a Kinlin XR31 and some new spokes.Cheers for the offer broken_777

there is a 4mm difference so not even close.

DT Swiss r460 rim avoid. they dont seem that round. the one i built with last night was 1.2mm out when built up. a warranty means posting it to tf tuned not madison that £10 carriage for a a rim that is a bit over £20 trade. simply they are not worth using. that my grump for the day over. if anyone want them cheap and i mean cost then i have a few i want rid off. i hope they are roundish.
i am fed up of getting rims that are not round. it wastes my time. oh that a second grump of the day i'll stop now.

Anyone with experience of Token carbon? C38 specifically

I'm in the market for a couple of r460s, one rim one disk brake. Keen if they are cheap as chips...and relativly round. Ideally 24 spoke rim brake and 28 spoke disk. Let me know.

Also interested in one (rim brake) if you're getting rid.
Thanks for the spokes and hub the other day btw. Spokes incidentally went on an r460 db (laced but not finished yet), and hub was laced 2-cross to a grey Archetype, both rims left over from other aborted projects. -

Wish I'd seen this before I used finish line wet lube on my front wheel. Laced it up, haven't finished trued yet though. Saying that the nippled did go on very smoothly.

I think Just Ride Along has some £20 though

Interested in disc 28h+ if you've got any

Wheelset advice needed.
This is for a do it all speedy commuter, longer rides and transporting stuff bike. The aksiums were to get it rolling as a cheap OTP set.
I'm after strongish for carrying loads on the front (tins of paint, shopping and general stuff stuff)
Comfort is good, so thinking wider, but frame only has clearance for 25c with the mudguards, so while I would like wide rims not sure if crazy wide is practical.
Finally, for the daily stop start riding, I like light wheels because they accelerate nicely.I don't really know where to start, deep Vs box etc, but get the feeling I should be looking at 2 cross 32 spoke builds?decent spokes should give the comfort and some flex?
As it's a daily ride, cartridge bearing hubs appeal...
Would really appreciate some suggestions on decent build combos or even OTP suggestions!
@Skülly read your PMs!
