Ask yourself, do you want to lose the house over 1k?
-
• #19281
brrk brrk

I did and we didn't... The sellers were quite happy to fuck the sale up for $1k tho', they were expecting to get more than they did...

• #19283
I asked myself the same question for a hot water thingie when I bought my place and there was no fucking way I was going back out looking at places for £1k so I asked but didn't push it. In the end it cost me half that to get it sorted so sucking it up and buying worked out for me.

My sparks is telling me a I need a 2nd lightswitch <5m away from the original one, at the other end of my hallway so people don't injure themselves walking down a dark hallway (!?).
Also didn't recognise the fact that my fan's hooked up to a humidistat and wants to hook it up to the light switch aaand has a problem with the fact that my dishwasher switch is on the return of a wall, even though putting it directly above would have put it in a safe zone.
All these are for an electrical condition report for rental. Is he just trying to take me for a ride?

Is there a selling your own home thread?
Splitting up. Gonna have to sell the house 'cos I can't afford to buy the ex out. Gutting. After ten years of slowly renovating. And now I'm gonna have to move in to a bloody flat, like some kind of 20-something laaad about town. Which I'm not.
Anyway... is there savings to be had through selling and buying through same agent?

They don't sound like completely unreasonable comments. Not sure about the humidistat, maybe he missed that it's there? Would have thought it was reasonable to have it connected that way. Is the dishwasher switch labelled? The hallway does seem reasonable really, probably cheaper to fit a wireless switch than hard wire it retrospectively.

wireless switch
edit: found the kind of thing now, good shout!
That's a good point actually, I've not got a label on the dishwasher one, but it turns out he just missed it because it's on the return wall. Still baffled as to what to do about the extractor, it's designed to be left running in trickle mode constantly, with humidistat just controlling the boost. As such I probably should should have left it on when he came round. Pretty pissed the guy who wired it up didn't mention any of this.

In fairness the regulations pertaining to the fan are probably buried deep in the big yellow book and it depends what you are remembering when you design vs what you remember when you're carrying out a test.
There's an IET website full of experienced electricians and testers who would probably love to start a 20 page thread about your fan if you fancy that.

Just checked, you're talking about the first amendment of the 17th edition (2011). The books now yellow, 2015, amendment 3.

Can anyone advise if RSUs are counted towards anything when applying for a mortgage?
I'm about to lose ~10% of my base salary, in return for a shed load of RSUs that vest over 4 years. (Each years vest is worth about 30% of my annual salary) so its a huge proportion of my income.

Google can

I suspect the answer from the high street banks in the UK is No by default. Maybe some specialists will take them in to account but they will cost accordingly.

I did look but there doesnt seem to be much useful info for the UK

That might be a hint :)
Even the US stuff seems to indicate that unless the lending bank has some kind of agreement with the Employer, lenders see RSUs as rather flimsy promises of something should some conditions be met in the future, and the chances of those conditions being met difficult to measure.
If you really want to know, call up a broker.
Nice!
