Glendronach
Heh, was at that distillery two weeks ago and we sampled most of their stuff - all good, particularly the 21yo. I like Highland whiskies but a lot of people will not like the sherry/low-or-no-peat thing. Peat is all a lot of people expect from whisky now, especially since so many previously non-peated whiskies went peaty to satisfy the chinese market.
I like peat too but there are other ways to make a malt and the market got more boring as a result.
The best whisky I've had recently was Glendronach 21. About £100 per bottle, non-chill filtered, 48% abv, really nice sherry essence. Maybe not what you're after as it has no peatiness and is a Highland whisky, but it's definitely something different and it's fucking amazing. Maybe get this and something peaty in the £80 range? 2 bottles of whisky>1 bottle of whisky.
