Im getting a SS arkose. Insurance money. I have trp spyres at home that were going on the race bike. Ha.
Should I just get hylex for the ss? Rather than Hy/rd for cross and spyres for ss?And wait till next year to get 11 speed hydro disc for ctoss race?

Doesn't the Arkose singlespeed come with Hylex as standard?

Not on my second hand one.....

Currently using rs685 on my road bike and rs505 on the commuter and it's annoying as the rs685s look nice and work fine but the rs505 are the ugly bulbous lumps bolted on to the front of an otherwise nice looking bike but they work (and more importantly FEEL) amazing! Hood shape is awesome especially for climbing - bigger lever blade is more comfortable in the drops - just don't look at them as you will turn to stone.

So which would you go with?
I've just got a Canyon Ultimate -
• #4109
Probably RS 685 because they look acceptable and 'seem' a bit lighter (I haven't checked but they are smaller and more expensive). I wouldn't dream of putting the 505s on my carbon Focus as they would spoil its lines - but then I look forward to braking in the rain on my Bowman on 505s!
You should go and ride both and feel the difference - you might not like the 505s. At least go and have a grip in a shop. Ideally go climb a steep hill and descend on the drops.

Great. Will try do that today!

Have just received a couple old Hope C2s that I hope to combine into one decent front brake for the Hummus. They are huge! Like scooter brakes or something.

Tektro hose kit should work with TRP, amirite?
-
• #4115
Tektro is the T in TRP.
-
• #4116
yup yup, so you would hope there would some sort of consistency - just checking if anyone has real world experience before I splash the cash.
-
• #4117
It's hard to say unless you say which hose kit and which brake.

Worried I've got a leaky 785 caliper, my pads keep going squeaky as fuck and losing their bite, i.e. contaminated. Rears are fine.
Anyone had experience of this? Apparently there's some sort of replacement o-ring fix that involved taking the caliper apart, not too keen...

The olive/insert looks like the right kind but then the picture isnt entirely correct (no hose with banjo on the end...)

What Howard said, into the bin with them.

Other websites seem to show the same kind of banjo on the Tektro hose:
Probably all of no relevance as Tredz will decide to inform me, two weeks after my order, that they have no stock anyway.

So I started fitting my new brakes and I decided that, this time, I cared enough to trim the cables. It promptly started raining and I despite double checking my new length, I expect I will get pissed off with it being a bit on the short side.
Having stopped swearing into the night sky, I have three questions.- Will a slightly sharp bend out of the lever lead to imminent firey death or just accelerated wear?
- Can I reuse the length of BH-90 I have from the old brakes, or will a firey death await me?
- Why did my new M6000 brakes come with the older (?) BH-59 hose?
- Will a slightly sharp bend out of the lever lead to imminent firey death or just accelerated wear?
no :)
I like the TRP hylex ones but they are not relevant (singlespeed)
