Only sort-of commuting, but really fucked off to ride to Herne Hill velodrome for vets session this morning, and find at the end of the session that someone had walked off with my brake lever + caliper, that I'd left with my bag at track centre.
I'd stayed on the track with a couple of others after official session end, so the majority of riders had gone by the time I came to retrieve it.
Only people there in track centre were my fellow riders. Hoping someone had a 'senior moment' and took it by mistake, but that seems rather unlikely. Bottles/arm warmers yes, brakesets no.
This has chilled me to the very core. During the Vets session, too?!? Gah.
Next time ride on Thursday. I am suspicious of competitive people, and guess what - one stole from you.

Haha, re-reading that sentence I don't think it was my finest grammatical hour!

MGIFfing everywhere this morning.
Got honked and gesticulated at on Streatham High Road by a driver very keen to be at the back of the queue 20 yards ahead of him. He seemed to be thinking I should ride in the bus stop.
The cycle lane at Oval was full of cyclists (yay!) so I took the lane. Chap in a van behind me very unhappy with that decision.
And finally the 133 bus on Kennington Park Road squeezing past a slower rider only to sit at the red.
People need to just, like, totally chill.

We don't do chill in Streatham.

Police stationed all along newington causeway and borough high st. Looking for rlj..

We were taught in geography at school that streatham was a gateway to Croydon.
But at least we have a bike shop. Makes commuting that bit safe. Between norbury and brixton there was nothing...

Lots of temporary traffic lights coming into Canary Wharf as they build more apartments for the rich. Homes for the rich meaning I get to work later.
-
• #18313
That's Norbury, don't go that far south.
-
• #18314
Yeah Norbury is pathetic.

'Looking for rlj'!

You get screamed at for cycling on the pavement, unless there is a white line painted on them then you get screamed at for riding on the road

Sometimes you just can't win...

It's a paradox though. My usual commute is mostly down shared paths. Old railways some, others are simply pavements or pedestrianised zones. So it's ok to cycle with peds there, but not others

Same problem in Belfast, some kerbs are cycling/peds then are a normal kerb and then nobody knows what's what.
It's usually not such a problem few people get annoyed by it. Even when you are on a pedestrian only kerb. Lol though at the kerb cycling helmet hi-vis lot ;)

Edit it also leads to conflicts unless there's lots of room..

I've had that in the past - someone cunted me as he walked whilst I was at lights. Then when I called him out on it and walked after him asking him to say to me properly, I found I was suddenly invisible to him. Funny that.

• #18323
He must be on here.

Sorry, I'd had a bad day. My internet connection was flakey so my porn was all buffering.

Nice brakes too.
Deliveroo cunt cycling on the right hand side of the Vauxhall bridge cycle lane going towards Victoria. Appeared to be chatting to a jogger on the pavement and not looking where he was going. No lights of course.
