This is my periodical reminder to anyone who is considering taking out pet insurance to NOT go with John Lewis. They seem nice and cheap and whatever at first... except when you need to renew or make any changes to your policy. I have not made a claim in the last policy cycle (12 months) and yet they have increased my monthly payment from £11.32 to £20.61 because I made a claim over 15 months ago for less than £800. They said the increase is also due to the age of Patch, FFS, she is not even 6.
I am jumping ship to Pet Plan who is placing a 2 years exclusion on Patch's pre-existing condition from the last date of treatment (not the date when the policy is taken out) and they are asking for £3 more a month for 4 times the cover (£3000 with JL vs £1200 with Pet Plan), or £2 less for 2.5 times the cover. I think it's a gamble worth taking.
