So, this is the first case I've heard about in which thieves actually broke into one of the breadbins:

As Tony says in the article, angle-grinding that wire mesh off must have taken ages and, I guess, won't be possible too often.
There was one on my street in Harringay that was broken into a couple of years ago. They took it away and added thick steel bars horizontally behind the mesh.
Ta for the info. So it was broken into through the mesh, too?
It still seems as if there have been very few incidents and most thieves probably think it's too much risk.
