I can't comment on actual use but it makes sense to get as pure as possible if the idea is to clean something leaving no residue. It depends on cost of both though I guess. Maplins 400ml spray was about 12 quid so I bought the 1L for 14 quid

I too buy large containers of isopropyl alcohol- good for cleaning up after bleeding brakes too.
