• Ugh. Decided to have a go at fitting my Compass Bon Jon's tubeless as they were just sitting around.

Trying to fit them on to Pacenti SL25's. I have 25mm rubber rim strip with built in valves. It seems too wide - the strip sticks out either side, I can't see how the tyres are going to hook onto the rim properly.

This is academic anyway as any air I try to put in them just escapes into the atmosphere - the beads of the tyre are nowhere near the rim.

Internet says undo one side and put in an inner tube so at least one side is tight. But I can't do that because I can't fit an inner tube valve through the built in valve in the rubber rim strip.

Should I ditch the rubber rim strip and use normal tape? If I did that I could fit an inner tube and inflate it...

Have you not been reading the Adventures of Hippy and the Tubeless?

Push the tyre down over the valve while you inflate. It catches air and et voila inflates.

The rim strip being too close is another issue. Can you push it away from the rim hook?
