  • Hi, long time lurker, I thought the blue one was yours and you were after the wheels off the black one, which made sense. Other way round? Nah, yours looks sweet.

  • Well the forum have spoken.. hugo u are just inline with the rest. Anyone else say the same i will just do the switch in "spite"

Isent that a seinfeld episode? ;)

  • The forum hath spoketh. 😎

  • Crisis averted guys. At ease

  • Isent that a seinfeld episode? ;)

The Opposite? That's my favourite episode, George at his best.

  • Haha yeah thats one is great but not the one i was thinking of. Tho perhaps would have been a better reference .)

"spite" was actually not a valid reason for Jerry to return his blazer at a posh store in a different episode that i cant recall the name of. Gotta love Seinfeld. The other day i called someone with george answer machine message picking up, almost forgot about that one (golden).

  • Can I just please also state the utmost #rep for @badboybjorn

  • Lets go back to the station house...

  • LOL. Audis.

We should have an anti car thread.

  • LaLdis

  • Ok. Subaru 2.5 turbo rebuild. Talk to me.

Forged pistons and rods, new rings, new bearings and a bore and hone. Oil pump?

Head rebuild with new valve stem seals and valves lapped.

Rebuild turbo while i'm at it.

What else should I consider while the engine is open?

  • I've never owned a car with working/AC so probably don't know what I'm missing.

    I'd be divorced.

  • 2010ish Megane RS for about £9k

    Or

2010ish Clio RS for about £6k

    ?

The main aim is to feel more like a 20 year old than the man I really am who is approaching double that.

I'm thinking Clio. Revs and lightness over torque and outright speed.

  • I'm thinking Clio. Revs and lightness over torque and outright speed.

No matter what, you'll want more torque in third gear.

  • change to second, innit?

Or do you mean there's a too big a hole between 2 and 3 so it drops out of the power band?

Maybe I should try one first.

  • I think that clio had really long first gear... If memory serves.

Anyway, fun car to keep on the boil through the twisties.

  • At least have the oil pump out, rake out the feed strainer and line, then get the pump properly checked for wear. Mine has done over 250k (diesel) and is still way above the threshold that volvo deem as "approaching wear limit. Consider replacement"
However I know a guy who killed his motor when one of the pump parts cracked and immediately failed, less miles than mine, but way more mods (he suspected his secondary after market oil cooler clogged, causing enough blockage to upset the pump but hard to prove)

  • Megane if it's more torquey - that's the best bit :)

  • Think I'll just replace the pump

  • Hasn't the Megane got a turbo? Get the Megane.

  • Yeah.

In theory I really fancy the high-revving Clio, but I do wonder if I'd prefer the wooshy Megane for the 90% of the time that I'm not ragging it.
