  • yeah, Benotto's were like graded with numbers like, 400, 500, 2000, etc... they moved their factory to Mexico for cheaper labour, skill was lost and the frames were no good!! Benotto lost it's value. The top of the range frames (high number) were built in Italy handmade, a quick identity check for a Italian Benotto is the rear chainstay's. They're Diamonds like De Rosa Primato's.

  • Benotto the builder married a Mexican woman, hence the move to Mexico.
    When still in Italy in the 1970s he had his top builders trained by De Rosa. Francesco Moser rode De Rosas rebadged as Benotto at Filotex and his own Moser label. Some Benotto 3000 frames are identical to De Rosa frames of the 1970s, including the diamond chainstays and heart cutouts in the same places as De Rosa put them.
