What are the benefits of running the cable like that on the rear derailleur against the chainstay "standard"?

@swmlon Don't know what's the reasoning here, but on cross bikes they always ran the cables over the toptube to prevent mud getting in there and protect the cable when you hit stuff, like rocks or stairs.

Only two lines trough downtube is neater I guess.

I imagine it would be tricky to run it in a straight line from the BB shell to the rear of the chainstay given the yoke at the BB end of the chainstay. Basically the tyre would get in the way.

Interesting caliper mounting solution on the rear, doesn't seem the most practical, and wouldn't allow for different rotor sizes.

Anyone have experience with the Futureshock on Specialized bikes? I am leaning to putting a build together around the Tripster AT, but my mind keeps wondering to the Diverge.

Its kinda lovely. Only ridden briefly- but was stable and enjoyable.

I'm building up a tripster - the build quality is nice, but if you get one do make sure you get all threads taped and bb faced etc - it's quite paint heavy in the threads.

I'm contemplating a thread, so I'll post it in here once I get going..

As I sold me CX bike (rim brake Scott Addict RS) earlier this summer I am in the market for a CX/ Gravel bike for a little racing but mostly for the fire roads around Scotland.

I'm selling my Caad12 Disc with hydro, so might part out and keep the groupset.
What Framesets should I be looking at around the £500 mark? Would like some nice tyre clearance. Is the Planet X XLA or Full Monty any good or just too heavy?
