Thanks all for all the answers.
So to sum it up:GK:
Tubeless
Heavier?
Brown wallPM:
Not tubeless
Lighter?
True gumwallI'm planing to run with tubes and will probably go black anyway since I'm not into the whole gumwall vanity thing. Price is almost identical so which one is best for a winter trainer?

Panaracer website gave 310g for the 650bx38, so not that heavier actually.
Brown wall will survive winter better though.
As I haven't got/see the 650b GK so that above comment is based on website data only. -

Apologies for not trawling back too far through this thread.
Currently commuting on Schawlbe Marathon and to my dismay it seems everyone says they slow you down horrendously/steal your joy. If I were in the market for a commuting tyre which will make me fly but still maintain decent puncture resistance, what should I go for?

Cheers, any idea where I can get them in 700x28c? Amazon has them but for £75 a tyre!

If you want a 28mm tyre then the Marathon Supreme probably isn't right for you. You may as well go for a durano/gatorskin if you want puncture resistance and don't want lots of tyre volume. If you want something a bit larger (>32mm) then yeah, definitely the supreme.

Conti GP 4 Season

I've got road rims so 28mm is as wide as I can go. I find it a pretty good trade off between comfort and reasonable speed. How do the duranos/gatorskins perform in the wet?
-
• #5011
Not too well for the gatorskins. Not sure about the duranos.
If you're OK with the occasional puncture then you have more options. Not tried the Conti GP 4 season as suggested by @farewell but I've had good experiences with the Michelin Pro4 Endurance. Check out http://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com if you want more numbers on this subject.

Duranos are much better than gators, you could also try gravelkings or ribmos.

I have 28mm Duranos (not the 'plus' version, if they still do it) on my winter/tourer etc bike and I like them so far. Have done a couple of hundred miles including some sketchy 'gravel' and they've held up well. I had a 4-season on before this and I actually like the Durano more, as it's a little wider than the 28 4 season and just feels less harsh.
That's just, like, my opinion though.

Cheers, how are the duranos in the wet?

Yes I think those are the ones.
@tonts they seem fine to me in the wet. I've never used gatorskins so can't compare. They're definitely better than the rubino pros I had a while ago.
I tend to ride with quite squishy tyres and am not really in the habit of railing around the corners in the wet anyway...

I agree with all of this. I also use them for winter training. They're durable, has grip in the wet and aren't prone to sidecuts.

Gatorskins are shit in the wet. Gravelkings are great, Paselas are good if slightly porky, but offer good grip and excellent durability.

Wiggle have some Open Paves in 25 and 27 in stock. Vittoria also hinted on Facebook the other day they might be returning.

I've been using these all year, all weather and all surfaces including gnarly trails. They're fat and comfy! Been bulletproof until 4000 miles and the rear has punctured and punctured again and I can't find the culprit thorn or flint in the tyre hence replacement. I run them at 85psi on the road and chase the fast guys around Regents Park. They also look the bollox on black rims.

I'm trying to fit Grand Bois Cypres (got a cheap pair from the bay) onto my Kinlin tl23 rims, and it's almost like they don't fit. Am I just being a knob?
(this is what made me curious about internal width)

Are either the tyres or the rims tubeless compatible?
So maybe it is the same Tyres?
We've only got the Pari-moto and 700c GKs in Stock. So can't really comment.
