Kudos to the police! They were able to throw a guy under the motorcycle but not to keep an eye on the Aquablue bus
slow hand clap....

Apparently the guy who pushed Belkov has (is?) Downs Syndrome.

It's potentially serious for road racing as it is likely to happen again, and there probably aren't enough metal barriers in Spain to line up the entire route (or time / money to get them put out)
How much might someone with a large bet but no morals offer for taking out Froome / Nibali / Contador on a climb?
I hope, but don't necessarily expect, that the policeman gets into trouble as his action doesn't help.

the police, up until this incident, seem to be doing a good job
on the climbs there is one every 100 - 200 m or so who stop the fucken idiots who run along side the peleton, keep the crowds back and patrol the crowd
much better organised than the tour on the hills, rider safety / ability to ride on the climbs seems much better -

Confirmed that the spectator has some form of mental disability.

Wondered what the fuck was in the water yesterday..
Any word on why someone torched the bus?
-
• #234
I saw that.

Quite a reasoned response by Belkov. I wonder why the fan chose him in particular. Probably that fucking advert.
-
• #236
yep respect to belkov for that response.
but fuck these long straight dry roads look energy sapping.
looking forward to the high mountains over weekend

I'm applying for a job in the Guardia Civil. I mean, I'm a nice guy, but if it was my job I'd be happy to use excessive force against cycling spectators. All I'd need is a little motivation from my boss.
"Your job is to protect wee Esteban Chavez at all costs!"
And I'd be donning my black beret and aviators, sprinting alongside the riders and dishing out shoeings to all and sundry.
Spectator waving a flag aggressively? Shoe.
Wearing a chicken costume? Headbutt and assertive whistle peep.
Wearing a mankini or rubber horse head? Truncheon to the bollocks.Etc.

Bit weird Astana setting the pace while Aru struggling at the back
-
• #241
Aru out the back again getting worked over by his team mates.

Ooph getting spicey. Plus the Spanish fans are great, and also the Spanish police seem to have the best handle on dickheads in the mountains.

Update please, doing menial chores, no av.
Has Nibali and Albert gone on one and Christopher is looking fatigued? -

Any consensus on how much time froome is going to ding the rest of the gc for in the TT this week?
I recall before the TT that concluded the tdf someone posted some calculations showing froome would take time from bardet etc that proved quite accurate. Anything like that doing the rounds this time?
-

The police must give some serious loud hayler warnings . Drive past with a jail wagon and tell everyone "we are round the corner and will take no sh.. from you" felice navidad.

If you haven't caught up, Adam Yates was looking ok for the win, then Lopez decided he was going to win, attacked out of the three man chasing group which included Contador and Bardet. He then smashed past Yates who gamely tried to keep up then pretty much literally stopped. Nieve then Poels led the chase for Sky, Froome never looked in any bother. Then caught and then dropped Contador and Yates, Zacharin put in a late dig, popped off the front and got second, Froome finished with Chaves and Nibali, Aru was distanced a little.
So Lopez, the new Landa?

Aru must be getting a strong sense of deja vu. This is what it would have looked like in 2012 if Wiggins and Froome had been riding for Astana.
-
• #248
Muchly appreciated. Thought today would've seen a shark attack, bummer about Yates, as long as Froome doesn't implode, does as expected in the tt, this could be an excellent season, helps having incredible teammates.
-
• #249
Nibali did attack but got reeled in afaik. Sky domestiques are two levels over everyone else's, at least.

Nibali attacked with about 11 km to go, but Nieve pegged him at 20 seconds then slowly reeled him in. Then did another 5 kms on the front. He's been immense for Froome this summer.
