Maybe one of these? goes in underside of fork to allow a front brake to be fitted when not drilled...

he'd still have the issue of the struts having nothing to attach to, also I feel he may have been joking.

^Anyone know of a slightly narrower version of this kind of thing?

it was a joke with rack, for such build it would be crazy to put rack :D
Made front rack for friends Peugeot ( who said roadies are not suitable for touring :D )
and next month we will have trip from Kiel,Germany, to Paris.
btw he will be making custom pannier bags for both of us. -

liked the simplicity of rack. mounts from 4mm laser cut steel
btw today saw Pelago front rack on a bicycle, and I wasn't excited as seeing it on web. it didn't looked perfect rack for panniers, as mounting tube is crazy short, and there is no much space for pannier bag to lean, maybe someone uses it and could say something about it, just curious ? -

maybe somone uses it and could say something about it, just curious ?
I've used it on a proper tour and it... works:
But your points are valid. Had to move the mounts of my Ortlieb pannier bags a little too much to the middle for comfort, might be the reason one bag snapped (not at that point though, so maybe not).
I have the large (platform) size and was really happy with it. Put my tent and sleeping back on top and that worked perfectly.
All in all pretty good rack for the money, though not ideal for pannier bags I'd say.

Beautiful racks, looking forward to seeing more!

well i just loved tubus tara, just sometimes its too low and you can hit bags, but overall its perfect, but platform is also cool
btw weighted that last rack and without paint its 670g -

I'm really happy with my pelago rack and the "rasket" on my GF's bike. We just did a 300k tour with them and we used 10-13 liter front panniers - it worked just fine even over rough gravel paths.

Can I be your friend?

I used the Pelago with the Ortlieb front rollers (12.5l each) and an Alp Kit dry bag on top. Like @Tijs I wish it had a longer mounting tube but for the smaller panniers it's okay. I'm not sure i'd fancy 40l panniers on there but people do!
In hindsight maybe I should have gone for the Soma Porteur, but at the time couldn't justify spending twice as much. For day to day use I love the Pelago though.

i am terrible at sketching. So then i have idea,I need to make prototype or rack to see how it looks. similar to tubus tara. but a bit different. Wouldnt look great with my upper rack, but in pair with rear it could be great combination.

After a bit of rack advice, this seems as good a place as any to ask. I'm after making a bagman type support to hang off my handlebars to support a Carradice saddle/handlebar roll, so not massive weight.
Tools at my disposal are: heavy duty visehammer grips Oxy acetylene
Probably will attach to bars with p clips, so both ends of the bracket will need to be squashed to enable drilling and bolting. Do I use alu or steel rod, and what diameter?
If it works out fine, I'm considering making a larger one for a Carradice super c audax bag, but with extra support from below ( from the fork brake/guard bolt hole).
Cheers. Jon -
