When I started working for Deliveroo you had to pay the £150 kit deposit, regardless of whether or not you actually took all of the gear. That was about a year ago though, don't know if that's still the case. As far as the uniform regulations go, I'd totally ignore it. Wear whatever you think is appropriate. Deliveroo won't enforce any uniform rules as they're eager to avoid anything that would help the people that work for them argue that they're employees rather than self employed contractors. At least that was the impression I got from a meeting between the union I was part of when I worked for Deliveroo and middle management.
I've done all the training bumf online and have been sent an email about an onboarding session. I've a few questions: do you HAVE to buy deliveroo bags? How much do they cost? Can be selective about which bits of their kit I want? I've been looking online and think i can buy a bag which fits their dimension requirements for £45. Does a reflective/safety vest count as a reflective jacket?
