  • Due to a large stack of abandoned bikes around the bike shed at home, and seeing @TomvanHalen and @georgeholmes26 's MTBs and currently not having sufficient mudguard clearance on any of my bikes, I thought I'd have a stab at getting one up and running. The best candidate is shown below. From the ST size I reckon it'll be okay although the tall stem may have to go.

Shifters all work but very reluctantly, new cables should fix that, think I'll be able to cobble together a working set of brakes from the carcasses + some new cables so hoping this weeked with some new cables I may get a rolling test model. Need to re-fit the front wheel as obviously from the pictures this is not right!

If I get alone with the size then the next plans will be to get the mudguards on and probably come City Jets. This thread will most likely contain many questions if it gets past the messing around stage, which I hope it will!

  • Those twist shift shifters are terrible and barely work from the outset.

When new those bikes come with warning stickers effectively telling you not to use to do any fun things off road.
