Consequence of clean(er) riding no ? More riders staying together on the final climb rather than the best responders breathing through their ears and riding away from everyone else in the EPO years ?
I do also wonder if the reason Grand Tour's are a bit stale is a dearth of talent. To win on GC you've got to be able to climb and TT, and the majority of GC riders are shit testers.
Will be interesting to see the next GT where Froome and Dumoulin ride together. Can Dumoulin hang on to the Sky train and beat Froome in the TTs ? I'd imagine Sky would probably ride a more punchy race rather than metronome up the mountains -

Could be but makes you question the organisation still following the formula of an x hundred km preamble then 15-40 mins of interest in the final climb if that's how it will shake down.
Mountain finishes really don't have the same thrill at any rate!

Riding each other to the limit until the last kms and then smashing each other with what they've got left and trying to gain 10s of seconds is the common thing now. Don't think any long range mountain attacks have worked in recent memory?
Of course doesn't stop teams smelling weakness and piling on pressure when certain GC contenders are not having a good day.

Lots of fun to come still!
I like how my hometown boy Sam Oomen is doing in his first real grand tour, turns out he's a super domestique for Kelderman, and punches way above his weight already.

Froome crosses the line some 20 seconds down on that GC group.

Lucky Froome's got a gentle sprint stage tomorrow to recover from giving it the beans at the end there.

Being on his arse in the middle of the road doesn't seem to faze him . Maybe he could try speed skating in the off season .

A cheeky shove, straight into an oncoming motorbike? I wouldn't file it under cheeky, but I might be soft

See Andy's post up there.
Really rubbish, I hope this sort of incident doesn't occur again and/or lead to more
rabbitrabid-proof fences being introduced in pro cycling. -

Beats the Frenchies throwing piss over Froome

Tbh I can't think of any other sport where fans have such unrestrained access to vulnerable athletes moving at such speeds-even watching riders on climbs such as Huez is stressful so I can't imagine what it's like for the riders when idiots are letting smoke bombs off meters from the road and running alongside them yelling in their ears. People are dicks, more restricted access is inevitable...
