If the heavy slow moving scattered showers stay away, I'll probably ride out to Amersham tomorrow and see what that's all about if anyone's interested.

No idea, so am going to go find out. Hopefully just pleasant late summer rolling hills

From memory I don't think they are that rolling - there is at least one actual climb I believe. Possibly TWO so, you know, beware etc

I'd normally join you but I've been sabotaged by another nursery incubated throat infection. I'm thinking of buying a cycling mask purely for the school run (the bit inside the school - it's like The Walking Dead in there)!

Give it another 3-4 months and the river of constant illnesses will slow down. Promise.

Thanks for the advice, I was more cautious than I might otherwise have been. There seemed to be a lot of climbs. Many a valley traversed!
Really enjoyed that. I thought Amersham was on the edge of the Chilterns and that the ride was beyond to the north west. As I got to the start it hit me I realised it was Aylesbury that I was thinking of. Amersham is in the middle of the Chilterns.

I can't think of a reason not to do Chingford but I will be on one of my French expedition :/

Only reason I can think of is that Chingford is closer to the Korean peninsula than Surrey, so has a higher chance of being unridable due to nuclear fallout (ie no good reason). Otherwise, in!

Is it an on week this week? I'm only partially confirmed for tomorrow night if so...
