Recabled my front brake before going out for a 35 mile cycle with a friend, had it adjusted ever so slightly tight and didn't want to adjust it in the dark on the way home so had 10 miles of squeaking disc rub, just got in and it's like 1/8th of a turn on the bolt but still didn't want to get stranded ages away if I did it wrong.

Crazy close pass/punish pass by a Southwark Council van this morning. The wing mirror was millimeters from my shoulder just as he managed to nip in to a pinch point near Burgess Park. Shit me right up and left me wondering if getting a camera would be useful to help report these sorts of things. I have emailed the council with the Reg plate, but doubt I'll hear back without video evidence.

Sometimes there's a specific online form for that type of thing but this is the only thing I could find for Southwark, which I imagine is what you used... Had something similar with a Mitie van last week in Bermondsey, sent them a tweet and they asked me to fill in an online form and it would be looked in to. Hard to know what else to do without video evidence - every time I read new posts here I am convinced that smidge more to get a gopro or similar...

Easy commute in this morning, first time in a while as I've moved jobs/offices. Found they've put ANOTHER set of lights in on Jamaica road which I struggle to see the benefit of.
After navigating Bishopsgate dodging round trucks and peds, walking back from the gym after a shower I nearly got taken out by a RLJ'er down Old Street who announced his presence by shouting 'Fuckwit' at me. Now I am most definitely a fuckwit, however the green man was showing and I'm pretty certain that means he needs to stop and I'm good to go. Made amends by buying gluten free porridge which was shit.

What's it made from?

Gluten free.

Gluten free in response to @pastry_bot
How insensitive - check your privilege!

Gluten free pastry does surely exist dear boy?
-
• #18262
It's a fucking abomination, it may exist but it's not right.

My four year old puts gluten free in food so I can eat it.
"You can have some dad, we've put gluten free in for you.'

your kids are trying to poison you?

On the way home tonight a guy on D2i Storck, asked if I was riding fixed* I said yes and he told me I should be on the track, not on the road. I didn't full appreciate what he was say at the time so I just laughed.
*I very obviously have a v brake on it, but I guess if he couldn't work out I was riding fixed he might not have noticed the brake.

did you point out his bike was for mamil sportives not commuting?

Regulation close-pass made marginally more bearable by the scraping noise as the driver accelerated over a speed bump.
I hope that caused lots of damage, cunt.

Porridge should be made from oats. Oats don't contain gluten. The gluten-free label is just informative, it's normal porridge. Maybe shit, but just porridge.
-
• #18269
Oats are milled in the same mills as wheat, barley and rye and are contaminated with gluten because of that. Ceoliacs have to ensure they eat oats milled in non-contaminated mills to be safe.
-
• #18270
Ah yeah. So gluten-free labeling is meaningful. But means it's even more porridgey than regular contaminated-with-gluten porridge?
-
• #18271
Surely a hipster would mill their own.

In their Jonathan-Creek-style windmill house.

A hipster, yesterday

Now that worked in preview.

Love it when a driver is so excited to overtake you that they don't notice the upcoming speed bump.
Get the money off the bastard whether you ride again or not. Although you should definitely ride again!
